Elazığ resident creates open-air museum of antique agricultural tools

Naci Demirpolat, a resident of the Beyyurdu Cluster Houses in Elazığ, has transformed the garden of his detached house into an open-air museum featuring historical and ethnographic artifacts. Driven by an interest in traditional production tools and antique items, Demirpolat began collecting agricultural implements and household goods used in the region in the past.

The collection has grown significantly as relatives, neighbors, and acquaintances contributed historical objects to the display. The exhibit features items ranging from 50 to 200 years old, including a 150-year-old dowry chest, a wooden shovel preserved for over a century, and a leather-crafted hay fork. Other notable pieces include wooden wheels, chests, and clay pots.

Demirpolat stated that his goal is to preserve tools that were once essential before the advancement of technology and to pass this old culture on to the new generation.
