Elba Hospital records five births within a few hours

Five babies—Aria, Vittoria, Bruno, Diego, and Tommaso—were born within a few hours at the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of the Elba Hospital. All five children belong to local families on the island.

Medical officials, including Stefano Masoni, Director of Gynecology and Obstetrics for Cecina, Piombino, and Elba, and coordinator Silvia Manzi, expressed satisfaction with the event. They highlighted the dedication of the medical, obstetric, and nursing staff, specifically praising head midwife Federica Cetica for her team coordination.

The recent surge in births contributes to a notable upward trend in maternity services on the island. Since the beginning of 2026, the hospital has recorded 85 births, compared to 71 during the same period in 2025, representing a provisional increase of 19.7 percent.
