Elba Island Hosts 30th Musical Festival as EU Tourism Rules Take Effect

The international event “Elba Isola Musicale d’Europa” returns for its 30th edition from 28 August to 13 September, featuring more than 70 musicians from 24 countries across genres from baroque to contemporary jazz. The festival, organized by local presenters Syusy Blady and Patrizio Roversi, links music, art and the island’s territory and involves all municipalities of Elba.

The municipality of Genoa has launched a senior‑focused travel programme called “Estate sicura 2026”, offering residents over 65 a seven‑day, six‑night stay in holiday resorts such as Cavalese, Roccaforte di Mondovì, Falcade, Bellaria‑Igea Marina and Riccione. Packages cost €300‑600 per person and include transport, double‑room accommodation and full board, coordinated with the volunteer association Auser.

The European Union has adopted a new tourism strategy titled “Building Sustainable and Competitive Tourism for the Future” and introduced Regulation 2024/1028 on short‑term rentals. The rule requires monthly reporting of short‑let data to national ministries to improve transparency and curb illegal rentals, without imposing quantitative limits on the market.
