Elba Island launches 2026 book and music festivals celebrating Mediterranean culture
The Elba Book Festival returns to Rio dell'Elba from 21 to 24 July 2026 under the theme “Naviganti”, honoring Gulliver’s voyages. The programme includes exhibitions, a children’s workshop called “Elbakids”, author talks, and the presentation of a newly discovered Augustine manuscript. The 11th Lorenzo Claris Appiani prize is awarded jointly to Maurizio De Rosa and Elisabetta Garieri, and the Demetra prize is presented on the final day.
From 28 August to 13 September 2026, the island also hosts the 30th edition of the Elba Isola Musicale d'Europa. Founded in 1997 by George Edelman and violinist Yuri Bashmet, the festival now spans all seven Elban municipalities, offering classical and jazz concerts in venues ranging from historic towns to natural settings within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. The expanded programme highlights the island’s landscape as an integral backdrop to the performances.
