Elbasan police arrest two men for vehicle arson, illegal weapons and cocaine

The Elbasan Police Department, together with the DVP Special Operational Force, carried out two coded operations – “Last Fire” and “Mbikëqyrja”. In the “Last Fire” operation, 43‑year‑old resident E. K. was detained on suspicion of setting fire to a vehicle on 7 August 2026 and of previously igniting two other cars owned by another citizen on 28 June 2026.

In the “Mbikëqyrja” operation, 32‑year‑old D. R. was caught in the Brigada 17 Sulmuese neighbourhood with a pistol, 35 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of suspected cocaine. He was arrested for illegal possession and production of firearms and ammunition, as well as for drug production and trafficking. The weapons, ammunition and narcotics were seized as evidence and the cases have been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Elbasan for further action.
