Elbchaussee road closure in Hamburg for long-term construction

The Elbchaussee in Hamburg is facing new traffic restrictions as construction work resumes on its eastern section. The closure affects the area between Betty-Levi-Passage/Klopstockstraße and Hohenzollernring.

According to the State Department for Roads, Bridges and Waters (LSBG), the work involves renewing pedestrian and cycle paths, installing the final asphalt layer, and applying permanent road markings. This phase of construction is expected to continue until December 2026.

Authorities recommend that motorists use Osdorfer Weg, Ebertallee, and Reventlowstraße (B431) as detours. The use of Halbmondweg is also suggested as an alternative. Despite the closure for through traffic, access to local properties, driveways, and emergency routes will remain available.
