Elbit Systems Deutschland activists face trial in Stuttgart
A criminal trial began in Stuttgart-Stammheim on April 27, 2026, involving five individuals known as the ‘Ulm 5’. The defendants are accused of breaking into the premises of Elbit Systems Deutschland, an arms company based in Ulm, in September 2025. The prosecution alleges they damaged office and laboratory equipment during the incident, which the activists filmed and shared on social media.
In addition to charges of property damage and trespassing, the Landgericht Stuttgart has charged the group with membership in a criminal organization under Section 129 of the German Criminal Code. The defendants have been in pretrial detention since September 2025, facing strict conditions including limited access to books and social activities.
During the ninth day of the trial on July 1, 2026, authorities reportedly admitted that they had not investigated exculpatory evidence. The trial is scheduled to consist of 16 sessions.
