Elbit Systems to open European laser warning system plant in Sweden

Elbit Systems Sweden AB has announced plans to establish the company’s first European production and maintenance center for Laser Warning Systems (LWS) in Sweden. Scheduled to become operational in 2027, the facility will focus on the integration, assembly, maintenance, and long-term technical support of these systems for European clients.

The initiative is part of a long-term strategy to expand Elbit Systems’ industrial presence in Europe and strengthen local technological capabilities to support the security needs of NATO member states. The move comes amid increased European defense spending following the invasion of Ukraine.

The center will produce next-generation passive laser warning systems designed to detect and locate laser threats against military platforms immediately. These systems feature a decentralized architecture intended to integrate seamlessly with existing command and control infrastructure while minimizing the need for platform modifications.
