Elbląg court investigates fatal assault of Ukrainian citizen

A court in Elbląg is investigating the death of Maryna Z., a 43-year-old Ukrainian citizen who had lived in Ostróda for nine years. The woman died in a hospital following a brutal physical assault allegedly committed by her partner, Tomasz P., whom she had met online three months prior.

Prosecutors have charged Tomasz P. with causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death. According to the indictment read by District Prosecutor Michał Kwiatkowski, the defendant struck the victim repeatedly in the head with fists and open hands, threw her to the floor, kicked her body, and used scissors to cut her hair and clothing before shaving her head with a machine. These actions resulted in extensive hemorrhages that led to her death.

The defendant has not pleaded guilty to the charges and refused to answer questions in court.
