Elbląg ZKM director announces major transport overhaul for 2028

Michał Górecki has been appointed as the new director of the Municipal Transport Authority (ZKM) in Elbląg, succeeding Artur Bartnik. The appointment was proposed by Elbląg Mayor Michał Missan.

Górecki has announced a major overhaul of the city's public transport system scheduled for January 1, 2028. This transition will involve new operators and a fleet of 12-meter buses equipped with air conditioning, three doors, and passenger counting systems. Additionally, the new system will support credit and debit card payments.

While addressing a decline in passenger numbers, Górecki intends to implement a conscious transport policy to reverse the trend of residents opting for private cars. Immediate changes are already underway, including route extensions and adjustments to lines 12, 14, and 23 due to ongoing infrastructure repairs.
