Elbridge Colby visits Europe to promote NATO 3.0 initiative

U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby has arrived in Europe to promote the ‘NATO 3.0’ initiative. His tour includes visits to Germany and Belgium, involving consultations with military and political leaders.

The ‘NATO 3.0’ concept, supported by the Trump administration, advocates for a return to a hard military alliance model. Under this strategy, European nations are expected to assume greater responsibility for their own conventional defense, while NATO forces focus on maintaining real capabilities to respond to potential threats.

Colby’s visit also coincides with a review of U.S. global force posture. Reports suggest the initiative may favor reducing U.S. military presence in Western Europe while potentially strengthening the NATO eastern flank, with no immediate changes planned for Poland.
