Bucharest’s CET Grozăvești heating plant shut for six‑hour maintenance, affecting thousands

Electrocentrale București (ELCEN) announced that on 27 July 2026 the CET Grozăvești heating plant will be taken offline from 09:00 to 15:00 for a six‑hour technical work to replace a gas‑diaphragm and ensure safe operation of the natural‑gas installations. The shutdown will temporarily cut hot water for approximately 2,400 apartment blocks across Bucharest, but ELCEN says the work was scheduled outside peak‑demand hours and the impact will be minimized.

Meanwhile, Distribuție Oltenia will carry out planned electricity‑grid works in Olt County between 27 and 31 July 2026, causing temporary power cuts in dozens of localities such as Făgețelu, Balș, Slatina and others. A similar schedule of electricity interruptions has been issued by Delgaz Grid for several communes in Botoșani County over the same week.

Additionally, Delgaz Grid will suspend natural‑gas supply in Cristian, Sibiu County on 29 July 2026 between 09:00 and 15:00 while new pipelines are coupled to the distribution system. Consumers have been warned to turn off burners and check for gas leaks after service is restored.
