Elche and Esgos roll out summer swimming pool initiatives

In Elche, the municipal swimming facilities will operate from June 20 to September 6 with extended hours of 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., adding two to three extra hours daily. A new digital School Card gives free access to children up to 14 and a 50 % discount for youths aged 15‑18. The city also doubled swimming and aqua‑gym classes and installed surveillance cameras linked to the local police.

In the Galician town of Esgos, officials announced water‑saving measures amid a dry summer, limiting municipal water use to domestic consumption only. The restriction does not affect the municipal swimming pool, which will open as scheduled once lifeguard contracts are finalized.

Both municipalities are adjusting services to cope with the expected heat wave and increased public demand for recreational facilities.
