Elche begins dismantling of historic Riegos El Progreso facade

Work has begun to dismantle the historic neoclassical facade of the Riegos El Progreso building in Elche. The process started with the removal of metal supports to free the structure, followed by the careful extraction of architectural elements.

Operators are working from the top of the building downward, beginning with the main cornice. Each protected piece is being individually identified, numbered, and wrapped in bubble wrap before being moved to municipal facilities for storage. These components are intended to be reused during the future reconstruction of the facade. A crane is being utilized to ensure the controlled descent of the pieces to prevent damage to the historical heritage.
