Elche announces traffic restrictions for August festivities

The city of Elche has announced various traffic closures and parking restrictions in connection with the 2026 Fiestas de Agosto. The local police have outlined measures to accommodate several festival events, including the mascletás contest, the installation of festival bars, and the Embajadas Moras y Cristianas.

For the mascletás contest, which takes place on August 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 at 14:00, parking will be prohibited in Candalix starting at 07:00. Traffic closures will affect the railway bridge and Candalix from Nuestra Señora de la Cabeza. Additionally, parking restrictions will be in effect on Maestro Albéniz and Alpujarra streets between August 8 and August 15 due to the installation of festival bars.

Specific closures for the Embajadas Moras y Cristianas event will occur on Maestro Albéniz street starting at 19:00 on August 9. Authorities advise drivers to plan alternative routes and adhere to all posted signage.
