Elche celebrates San Crispín pilgrimage and footwear heritage

The city of Elche held its annual San Crispín pilgrimage on Sunday, October 25, honoring the patron saint of shoemakers. The procession traveled from the Madre de Dios parish through the Carrús neighborhood, making a stop at the El Buen Pastor parish before arriving at the San Crispín hermitage.

Attendees participated in traditional customs, including the collection of shoemaker pins and a communal meal featuring 'coca con sardina'. The event, which blends religious devotion with local industrial history, saw the participation of Elche Mayor Pablo Ruz, municipal government members, and political opposition representatives. Local vendors provided traditional sweets, toys, and food, maintaining the festive atmosphere centered around the city's footwear legacy.
