Elche CF president discusses squad updates and stadium plans

Elche CF president Joaquín Buitrago addressed several institutional and sporting matters during the club’s traditional floral offering to the patron saint, the Virgin of the Assumption.

Regarding the squad, Buitrago discussed the future of Germán Valera, noting that the player’s performances have attracted interest from foreign clubs. He also touched upon the possibility of filling the final open spot in the roster. Buitrago explained that budgetary constraints often force the club to wait until the end of the transfer window to finalize signings, which can delay tactical integration.

On the pitch, the president expressed optimism following recent performances, specifically citing the victory over Espanyol and a strong second-half display against Real Madrid. Despite the team currently sitting near the bottom of the table, Buitrago believes the club is on the right track to climb the standings. He also mentioned ongoing plans regarding the redevelopment of the Martínez Valero stadium and improvements to the training grounds.
