Elche hosts exhibition honoring Civil Guard victims of 1986 ETA attack
An exhibition titled ‘Plaza de la República Dominicana 1986. 12 vidas, una herida permanente’ has opened at the Lonja Medieval in Elche to honor the twelve Civil Guard officers killed by ETA. The attack occurred on July 14, 1986, in Madrid’s Plaza de la República Dominicana.
Organized by the Valencian Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Participation, the Foundation of Victims of Terrorism, and the Elche City Council, the exhibition uses photographs and documents to reconstruct the events and their social consequences. The initiative aims to preserve the collective memory of the victims and defend democratic values such as freedom and human rights. The exhibition is free to the public and will remain open until November 15.
