Elche hosts exhibition honoring ETA victims
The Lonja Medieval in Elche is hosting the traveling exhibition ‘12 vidas. Una herida permanente’ (12 lives. A permanent wound) to commemorate the twelve Civil Guard officers killed by ETA in a 1986 car bomb attack in Madrid’s Plaza de la República Dominicana.
The exhibition features photographs, historical documents, personal objects, and testimonies aimed at recovering the individual stories of the deceased and illustrating the impact on their families and survivors. Among the victims were two individuals from the Valencian Community: Miguel Ángel Cornejo Ros and Santiago Iglesias Godino.
Local officials, including Mayor Pablo Ruz, attended the inauguration, emphasizing the importance of preserving historical memory and passing the consequences of terrorism to new generations. The exhibition is scheduled to run until November 2026.
