Elche hosts Spanish Triathlon Championships at Arenales del Sol

The Arenales del Sol beach in Elche is hosting the Platges d’Elx Spanish Triathlon Championships on September 12 and 13. Organized by the Spanish Triathlon Federation, the event features more than 1,200 athletes and over 60 clubs from the First and Second Divisions, as well as Open category participants.

The competition includes three distinct championships: the SuperSprint Club Championship, the Mixed Relay Championship, and the 2x2 Relay Championship. The SuperSprint format consists of 300 meters of swimming, 6.6 kilometers of cycling, and 1.6 kilometers of running. The 2x2 relay involves clubs using three pairs of athletes to complete two consecutive triathlons.

Local team 208 is competing in the event with the goal of earning promotion to the top national category. Sports Councilor José Antonio Román noted the event's importance as part of the ‘Elche Capital Mediterránea del Deporte 2026’ program.
