Elche pomegranate peeling contest winner announced

Pablo Saura won first place in the pomegranate peeling contest held in Elche as part of the Fireta del Camp d’Elx festivities. Saura utilized a traditional technique inherited from his mother, cutting the fruit into segments similar to an orange after removing the crown.

Organized by the Association of Young Farmers of Elche (ASAJA) in collaboration with the Elche City Council and the Denominación de Origen de la Granada Mollar de Elche, the event saw nearly twenty participants. Saura received a cash prize of 200 euros, while the second and third-place winners received 100 and 50 euros, respectively.
