Elden Ring DLC characters reveal design links to previous titles

Data miner Zullie the Witch has analyzed new NPC characters added to Elden Ring via the Tarnished Edition DLC. By digitally removing masks from the characters Knight Leontiel and Noble Broken Mask, the researcher identified significant design connections to previous FromSoftware titles and in-game lore.

Knight Leontiel appears to be a direct homage to Lucatiel of Mirrah from Dark Souls 2. The character shares similar conquistador-style attire, a nimble greatsword combat style, and a facial mark over the left eye that mirrors the corruption seen in the Dark Souls 2 character.

Noble Broken Mask features austere facial features and pale gold eyes, which may provide insight into the appearance of the base game character Goldmask. Additionally, the character shares visual similarities with the Perfumers found within Elden Ring. Zullie also provided character creation parameters, allowing players to recreate these NPCs using the game’s standard customization tools.
