A24 Elden Ring film budget reaches nearly $200 million
The upcoming Elden Ring film adaptation, directed and written by Alex Garland, is set to become A24’s most expensive production to date. Reports indicate a budget between $175 million and $200 million, a significant increase from the studio's typical independent scale.
New details suggest the film may have a runtime of nearly three hours, based on a screenplay that spans at least 180 pages including visual cues. The production, which involves FromSoftware, aims to be a faithful adaptation of the dark fantasy universe created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin.
To mitigate financial risk, A24 has partnered with Amazon MGM Studios, which has reportedly secured international pay-1 streaming rights in a deal worth tens of millions of dollars. The film stars Kit Connor as the protagonist and features an ensemble cast including Cailee Spaeny and Ben Whishaw. Filming concluded in July, and the movie is scheduled for a theatrical and IMAX release on March 3, 2028.
