Elden Ring receives patch to fix DLC item exploit
Bandai Namco Entertainment has released patch 1.17.1 for Elden Ring to address a multiplayer exploit involving DLC-specific items. The update fixes an issue where players could obtain items from the Tarnished Pack without purchasing the expansion.
The exploit occurred when a player owning the DLC joined a multiplayer session with a player who did not. Under specific conditions, copies of the DLC items would automatically generate as collectable elements for all participants. The new patch prevents this automatic generation while still allowing players to manually trade or transfer DLC items to others.
The Tarnished Pack includes new starting classes, weapons, armor, and spectral steed attire. The patch has drawn criticism from some members of the gaming community regarding the prioritization of revenue protection over other quality-of-life updates.
