Elder bassist Jack Donovan recovers after open-heart surgery
Jack Donovan, the bassist for the American heavy psych/stoner doom band Elder, is recovering following open-heart surgery. The medical emergency occurred during a tour in Portland, Oregon, when Donovan was hospitalized for pneumonia.
Medical staff discovered that pre-existing congenital heart issues were the underlying cause of his sudden illness. Donovan was treated in an ICU and required surgical intervention to address the heart condition. The band expressed gratitude to the medical team at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for their life-saving actions.
Due to the health crisis, Elder has postponed their touring schedule. The band indicated they are working on rescheduling makeup dates and will announce them once possible.
