FOSIS and AIEP launch free training for 5,000 elderly caregivers

The Fondo de Solidaridad e Inversión Social (FOSIS) and the AIEP Institute have launched a new version of the free “Cuidando Juntos” course. The initiative offers 5,000 spots for caregivers of elderly individuals with moderate or severe dependency across Chile.

The 36-hour asynchronous online course provides practical tools to improve the quality of care and promote humanized attention. Topics include effective communication, empathy, respect, and the promotion of autonomy for the elderly. Additionally, the program emphasizes caregiver self-care, covering mental health, prevention of burnout, and the activation of support networks.

This program is particularly relevant given that Chile has over 260,000 identified caregivers, approximately 71.9% of whom are women. The initiative also includes those working with the National Service for the Elderly (Senama). Applications are open until August 31 for individuals aged 18 and older with a ClaveÚnica.
