Elderly Care Programs Launched in Colombia and Venezuela

The municipal government of Duitama, Colombia, has opened the Centro Vida program to promote physical, emotional and social wellbeing for residents aged 60 and older who are not pensioners and fall within Sisbén groups A1 to C18. Activities run Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m.‑12 p.m., offering exercise, recreation, and personal development sessions at multiple city sites. Applicants must provide identification, health records and an address certificate.

In Caracas, Venezuela, the Distrito Capital authority led a door‑to‑door health outreach in the La Espada de Bolívar circuit of the Cota 905 parish. Governor Nahum Fernández reported that the initiative, part of the Brigades of Integral Attention for Grandparents, identified vulnerable seniors, referred them to medical and rehabilitation services, and logged a total of 21,294 older adults served, including 9,017 new cases, with support from community committees.
