Elderly citizens in Mexico share stories of family and labor

Individual stories highlight the lives and legacies of elderly citizens in Mexico. In Acámbaro, Guanajuato, 94-year-old Juan García Mejía reflects on a lifetime of agricultural work. To support his family and his children's education, García Mejía spent decades working the land, traveling to northern Mexico, and working in a factory in Mexico City.

In Guaymas, Sonora, 67-year-old Rigoberto Martínez Osunase shares his experience of retirement. A former employee of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), Martínez Osunase now focuses his time on caring for his seven grandchildren, providing support to his family following his daughter's serious car accident in 2022.
