Elderly killed in separate truck accidents in Goianira and Santarém, Brazil

A 66‑year‑old woman, Maria Conceição da Silva, died after a municipal truck struck her bicycle on the GO‑070 highway in Goianira, Goiás. She was taken to the State Emergency Hospital but succumbed early on July 2. Police opened an investigation into the collision; the truck driver’s name was not released.

In Santarém, Pará, a 73‑year‑old man, Hélio Vieira, was thrown from a dump‑truck cab when a blue tractor‑trailer hit his cart. He suffered abrasions and a neck wound before being treated by emergency services. The truck driver fled the scene, and authorities will investigate the incident.

Both accidents prompted local investigations and highlight concerns over truck safety on Brazilian roads.
