Elderly Man Killed in Debt Dispute in Palma Sola, Brazil

On 5 May, 73‑year‑old José Carlos Konrad was shot dead during a dispute over a supposed debt with a 74‑year‑old man in the Linha Santa Rita area of Palma Sola, Santa Catarina. According to the suspect, the victim arrived in a pickup, drew a .38‑calibre revolver and wounded the suspect’s hand. The suspect then seized the weapon and fired at Konrad, who died at the scene.

Police arrived to find the victim beside the running vehicle, recovered the .38 revolver and also seized a .22‑calibre rifle belonging to the suspect’s son that had been hidden in the house. The 74‑year‑old suspect was taken into custody in flagrante delicto and transferred to the local police station for investigation.
