Elderly man sentenced for arson of son's house in Thessaloniki returns to prison

An 80‑year‑old man was convicted in Thessaloniki for intentionally setting fire to his son’s home, causing its total destruction. The Thessaloniki Criminal Court sentenced him to three years and two months in prison, reducing an earlier four‑year‑three‑month term, and acknowledged his previous good conduct as a mitigating factor.

The defendant requested to serve the remainder of his sentence in prison rather than under house arrest, stating he did not want to endanger his wife.
