Elderly man survives 60-meter fall in Santander, Colombia

An elderly man survived a fall of approximately 60 meters in the La Peña sector of Santander, Colombia, on the road connecting Barichara and Guane. Rescuers were able to locate the man after finding his hat at the bottom of a steep slope, which served as a vital clue for the search operation.

The man was found trapped in thick vegetation about 60 meters down a precipice that reaches a total depth of 100 meters. The vegetation is believed to have cushioned his descent. According to the Barichara Fire Department commander, the man sustained lacerations and cuts to his head, face, and one leg, but no fractures were reported.

Following the rescue, the individual was transported to the Hospital Integrado San Juan de Dios in Barichara for medical treatment.
