Series of Serious Road Accidents Sweep Brazil in Early June

On 5 June, a 74‑year‑old woman was killed after stepping into the path of a motorcycle on the MG‑050 near Formiga, Minas Gerais; the rider, a 30‑year‑old man, suffered severe injuries and was taken to hospital. Later that day in Campo Erê, Santa Catarina, a 26‑year‑old driver of a GM Celta was lightly injured when her car collided with a parked Toyota Corolla and was treated at Hospital Santo Antônio.

On 6 June, a truck carrying concrete, soil and feed capsized on BR‑282 near Maravilha, Santa Catarina. The driver’s 36‑year‑old wife was crushed by the load and died on site, while the driver survived with multiple fractures and was air‑lifted to Hospital Regional de Chapecó.

Also on 6 June in Jales, São Paulo, a motorcyclist was seriously injured after a cyclist abruptly entered her path and fled the scene; the cyclist’s bicycle was seized by police as the investigation continues.

Later that afternoon in São Paulo city, a driver lost control of a Porsche, struck a wall and hit two motorcycles and two cars on Avenida das Juntas Provisórias, leaving two people injured and requiring emergency medical care.
