Amozoc: Elderly cemita vendor murdered during robbery

Dominga Pérez Comisario, an 82 or 83-year-old cemita vendor, was murdered during an apparent robbery in the San Salvador Chachapa community of Amozoc, Puebla. The incident occurred on the night of August 4, as she was returning home from her work.

According to reports and witness accounts, a suspect followed her and demanded her earnings. Despite the victim allegedly handing over approximately 90 pesos, the assailant reportedly struck her in the head with a stone, causing fatal injuries. Surveillance footage showed a man following her through the streets before the attack.

The crime has caused widespread indignation in the region, with residents and family members demanding justice and increased security from local authorities. During her funeral, community members honored her with a procession and placed her flower-filled cemita basket on her grave. The Fiscalía General del Estado de Puebla has opened an investigation into the homicide, though no arrests have been officially confirmed at this time.
