European police issue fraud warnings after Vienna safe theft and Croatia crypto scam

Vienna police issued an alert after a 79‑year‑old pensioner was deceived by a man posing as a building‑maintenance worker. The impostor entered the apartment, left the door unlocked and a second accomplice stole a safe containing cash and valuables valued at more than €70,000. Authorities urge citizens, especially the elderly, to verify identities and avoid letting unknown persons into their homes.

In Slavonski Brod, Croatia, a 35‑year‑old woman was siphoned of over €38,700 after a fraudster masquerading as a financial adviser promised high returns from cryptocurrency trading. The victim transferred the money to a virtual wallet she believed she controlled, but could not access it later. Police are investigating the case and warn the public to be cautious of rapid‑profit crypto offers and to verify the legitimacy of platforms and advisors before investing.
