Elderly welfare and retirement concerns rise amid aging populations

As populations age, discussions regarding elderly welfare and financial security are gaining prominence. In London, the Appleby Blue project designed by Witherford Watson Mann has won the RIBA Stirling Prize. Managed by the United St Saviour's Charity, the project serves as a model for humanized architecture intended to combat social isolation among seniors, which the World Health Organization identifies as a significant health risk.

In Brazil, public perception regarding retirement is marked by uncertainty. A survey commissioned by Fenaprevi and conducted by Datafolha reveals that only 28% of Brazilians believe they will be able to retire by age 60. Furthermore, 11% of respondents believe they will never be able to stop working. While 59% of those surveyed consider 60 the ideal retirement age, current INSS regulations require women to be at least 62 and men at least 65 to qualify for benefits.
