Elderly Woman Defrauded After Supermarket Parking Theft in Scandiano

An 84‑year‑old resident of Albinea was robbed while loading her groceries into her car at a Conad supermarket in Scandiano. Two thieves pretended to have found coins on the ground, distracted her, and opened the passenger‑door to steal her bag, which contained personal documents, about €100 in cash and a debit card.

The perpetrators quickly used the card, likely after observing the PIN, to withdraw €1,000 from a nearby ATM, emptying the victim’s account before the card could be blocked. Carabinieri in Scandiano opened an investigation and issued a public warning urging seniors and shoppers to be vigilant in parking areas, recommending that valuables be kept out of sight and that PINs be concealed during transactions.
