Elderly woman found dead in João Pessoa residence

An elderly woman was found dead in a residence in the Bairro dos Estados neighborhood of João Pessoa, Brazil. Initial forensic analysis by the Paraíba Scientific Police Institute (IPC-PB) suggests the woman may have been deceased for at least one year.

The body was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition, with some remains already skeletonized. Investigators found the residence in a state of significant accumulation of dirt and objects, and noted the presence of dead cats inside bags within the home.

Preliminary reports from the Military Police suggest the death may have been due to natural causes. Neighbors indicated that the woman was a widow and reported that individuals experiencing homelessness may have entered the property to take items following her death. The victim is tentatively identified as Magna Flora Carvalho da Fonseca, pending official confirmation. The Civil Police are conducting an investigation, and a necropsy will be performed to determine the exact circumstances of death.
