Eldorado: 100-year-old man rescued after flooding

The São Paulo Military Police rescued a 100-year-old man who became stranded in his home due to heavy rainfall in the rural area of Eldorado, located in the Vale do Ribeira region.

Following the overflow of a nearby river, rescue teams opted for an aerial operation using the Águia 12 helicopter because the strong currents made boat rescues impossible. The elderly man, who suffered from breathing difficulties and mobility limitations, was extracted via a rescue winch and subsequently transported by an air ICU unit to a health facility.

The flooding follows severe storms in the region, with the Ribeira de Iguape River overflowing and impacting several rural properties. Civil Defense reports indicate that Eldorado is among the areas most affected by the recent heavy rainfall.
