Eldorado council workers declare permanent assembly over union dispute

Workers at the Eldorado Deliberative Council in Argentina have declared a state of permanent assembly following a conflict with the UPCN union. The employees have formally requested that Vanesa Kaczalha, the UPCN delegate for the Municipal Executive, be declared ‘persona no grata’ (persona non grata).

The dispute stems from allegations that Kaczalha interfered with and blocked the processing of a proposed 35% non-remunerative salary supplement intended to mitigate loss of purchasing power for legislative staff. Although workers had previously agreed to reduce their original 60% demand to reach a consensus, the proposal stalled in Commission 2 due to alleged obstructions by Kaczalha.

Omar Ponce, the UPCN delegate for the Deliberative Council, stated that the request to declare Kaczalha persona non grata was a unanimous decision by all staff members. He confirmed that the labor action remains in effect through the permanent assembly.
