Eldorado Gold's Skouries Mine Nears 2026 Production

Eldorado Gold reports that construction of the Skouries copper‑gold project in Halkidiki, Greece, is 97 % complete. The primary crusher processed its first ore in July using temporary power, paving the way for first concentrate production in the third quarter of 2026 and commercial output in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The company forecasts 2026 gold output of 60,000‑100,000 ounces and copper output of 20‑40 million pounds. Capital spending to the start of commercial production is estimated at about $1.315 billion, with accelerated operating capital of roughly $260 million. Off‑take agreements covering the full 2026 production and part of 2027 have been signed, and negotiations are under way for contracts through 2029.

Management changes include Christos Balaskas becoming Vice President & Country Manager for Greece, reporting to Christian Milau, who will assume the role of President & CEO on 30 September. Louw Smith will depart on the same date, with operational responsibility transferring to Niklas Frank. Eldorado posted second‑quarter revenue of $487.5 million and net profit of $172.8 million.
