The documentary ‘Making Marie Antoinette’ has premiered at the Telluride Film Festival, offering a behind-the-scenes look at Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film. The documentary was directed by Eleanor Coppola, who captured approximately 80 hours of archival footage during the original production.

Eleanor and Sofia Coppola began organizing the material during the 2020 lockdown. Following Eleanor Coppola’s death in 2024, Sofia Coppola completed the project as a tribute to her mother, serving as a producer on the film. The documentary features Eleanor’s diary entries, read by Diane Lane, and provides a window into the mother-daughter relationship and the filmmaking process.
