Eleanor Thomas performs at Carnegie Hall

Eleanor Thomas, a 10-year-old fifth grader from Mountain Brook Elementary School, recently performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Her performance followed her first-place win in the Upper Elementary Division of the Gulf Coast Steinway Society Music Competition.

Thomas has studied piano for five years under Joyce Terry and violin for six years with Layla Humphries. The competition involves pianists from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Thomas noted that her goal had been to play at Carnegie Hall for nearly two years.
