Elecom offers USB fingerprint reader for Windows Hello

Elecom is offering its CR-FI01UBK USB fingerprint authentication reader at a discounted price of 6,731 yen on Amazon, down from its reference price of 7,480 yen.

The compact device weighs approximately 2g and is designed to add fingerprint sign-in capabilities to Windows 10 and 11 computers via Windows Hello. It features a 360-degree capacitive touch sensor capable of registering up to 10 fingerprints and supports passkey authentication for compatible websites.

To enhance security, the reader utilizes the MoC method, which stores and matches fingerprint data internally within the device rather than transmitting the data to the PC. It uses a Microsoft-certified IC and features a sensor resolution of 508 DPI.
