Election Commission of India reviews Punjab poll preparedness

A delegation from the Election Commission of India (ECI) conducted a district-wise review of preparedness for the upcoming 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. The visiting delegation included Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sharma, Deputy Election Commissioner Bhanu Prakash Yeturu, Director General (IT) Seema Khanna, and Director General (Media) Ashish Goyal.

During the review, officials held detailed interactions with all 23 District Election Officers, Commissioners of Police, and Senior Superintendents of Police. These officials provided presentations regarding the status of election readiness within their respective districts. The ECI delegation emphasized the necessity of strict compliance with commission guidelines, transparency in administrative processes, the timely execution of pre-poll activities, and robust enforcement measures throughout the state.

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anandita Mitra assured the delegation that all election-related tasks would be executed diligently and within stipulated timelines to ensure free, fair, transparent, and inclusive polls.
