Election Commission of India conducts voter roll revisions across multiple states

The Election Commission of India (ECI) is conducting Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercises across multiple states to update and verify electoral rolls.

In Maharashtra and Delhi, the ECI has revised the schedule, pushing the publication of the final voter lists to November 4, 2026. Draft rolls for both regions are expected on August 31, with a claims and objections window running through September 30.

In Nagaland, ECI Secretary Binod Kumar has urged officials to intensify efforts to improve mapping and data accuracy, noting the exercise will have a “generational impact.” Officials in Kohima, Chumoukedima, and Dimapur are working to ensure thorough field-level verification.

In Odisha, the revision has entered its final phase. Following the verification of over 58 lakh flagged records, approximately 54.21 lakh electors have been retained. The final electoral roll for Odisha is scheduled for publication on September 21.

In Karnataka, the commission plans to issue notices to 43.8 lakh voters due to logical discrepancies or mapping issues, with Bengaluru accounting for over 24 lakh of those notices. Volunteers in Bengaluru have also been active in assisting citizens with the complex registration and mapping process.
