Election disputes reported in Mexico and Uruguay

In Mexico, allegations of fraud have surfaced regarding the recent elections for the School Technical Advisory Council (CTCE) at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) economics postgraduate program. The dispute centered on the master's student council seat, where candidate Enrique, representing the Central Nacional de Estudiantes Democráticos, proposed linking research to social and labor market needs. Allegations suggest that authorities bypassed regulations to favor candidate Fátima, including reportedly calling students during the election period to influence their votes.

In Uruguay, national elections for the Central Directing Council (CODICEN) are scheduled for October 3. Limber Santos, Director of Rural Education and candidate for List 22 of the Coordinadora de Sindicatos de la Enseñanza (CSEU), is campaigning under the slogan ‘In defense of public education’. The election is mandatory nationwide and includes five lists. Santos emphasized the need for collective action and better representation for teachers in the interior of the country regarding public policy and educational realities.
