Electoral authorities in Mexico City and Chile launch civic engagement initiatives
The Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) has launched a digital platform for Local Electoral Geography and Citizen Participation. This microsite provides interactive maps, consultation tools, and sociodemographic information to help citizens understand the territorial organization of the capital. The platform allows users to view the 33 local electoral districts and 1,851 territorial units, including original towns, neighborhoods, and housing developments, which serve as the basis for community participation commissions and participatory budgeting consultations.
In Chile, the Los Ríos Regional Directorate of the Electoral Service (Servel) has conducted civic education and citizen training activities throughout July. These initiatives focused on student centers, such as the Escuela España in Valdivia, to promote knowledge of the electoral system and democratic participation. The program included training on the functions of Servel, the use of electoral materials, and voting procedures, involving 244 students, teachers, and school administrators.
