Electoral authorities meet in Guerrero to discuss technology and institutional strength
The Regional Meeting of Electoral Authorities 2026 for the IV Plurinominal Constituency has commenced in Guerrero, Mexico. The gathering brings together electoral representatives from Guerrero, Morelos, Mexico City, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, and Puebla to discuss institutional strengthening and coordination ahead of upcoming electoral processes.
During the event, INE Counselor Norma De La Cruz Magaña emphasized the role of technology in enhancing electoral integrity and transparency. She highlighted tools such as the Electoral Roll, the photographic voter ID, and the ‘Conóceles’ platform, noting that 99.2% of candidates used the latter to provide professional and curricular information to voters during the 2024-2025 judicial election process. She stressed that technological innovations are subject to audit and control mechanisms to ensure public trust and combat disinformation.
Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda inaugurated the meeting, advocating for strong, independent institutions and responsible coordination. She noted that the meeting addresses critical democratic issues, including protection against political gender-based violence, the selection of judges, and the effective participation of indigenous and Afro-Mexican women in public life.
