Electoral campaigns face scrutiny over urban impact and nomination processes

In Ecuador, there are calls for a ‘clean campaign’ to prevent the deterioration of urban landscapes caused by excessive political advertising. Critics note that during election periods, candidates often use glue or flour paste to cover walls and utility poles with posters, resulting in litter and damage to public furniture. It is suggested that candidates utilize digital platforms, social media, and authorized billboards instead of occupying common spaces indiscriminately.

In Mexico, the Morena party is facing scrutiny regarding its candidate selection process. While several individuals have been presented as ‘coordinators of defense of transformation and national sovereignty,’ party leader Ariadna Montiel Reyes has clarified that these roles do not guarantee formal nominations. The party has until December to resolve state-level candidacies, and aspirants are advised to remain patient and continue territory work without assuming their positions are secured.
